The Brandberg mountains rise out of the red desert to form the highest range in Namibia. The summit, Königstein, German for "King's Stone", stands at over 2,500 metres. The bottom picture (left, courtesy of Nasa) is from space and shows the perfect circular form. These mountains were always held sacred and are famed for ancient rock paintings and engravings.

The indiginous Damara people named the mountain Dâures, which means "Burning Mountain". Brandberg is German for "Fire Mountain", because of its beautiful orange glow at sunset. The Herero people named Brandberg, Omukuruvaro "Mountain of the Gods".

Stunning amethyst and smoky "flames", liquid inclusions, brilliance and metaphysical variety characterize this unique quartz location.

Many water pockets and a fairly stationary, tiny bubble in the self-healed tip. Dozens of tiny inner crystals/negatives (crystal shaped hollows). Their shape and proximity to water would make a negative more than likely, but no easily found moving bubbles. Opalised inclusions on the lower tip.

The centre of this mostly water clear crystal has a group (I counted 30 before stopping) of these perfectly formed inner crystals/crystal shaped enhydro pockets (negatives), all aligned perfectly at 90 degrees to the vertical plane and grouped with 12mm of each other. Truly amazing.
