Emphasis has been given to those that are relatively easily available and have the power to enhance our physical, emotional, mental and spiritual lives.
Agate
Agate is a variegated chalcedony. Historically, it was placed in cooking and drinking water to avoid illness. More on crystals and structured water. More on crystals, thought forms and water. “Agate provides for balancing of yin-yang energy and physical, emotional and intellectual bodies. It stabilizes the aura providing for a cleansing effect which acts to smooth dysfunctional energies and to both transform and eliminate negativity. It further assists one in the development of precision in examination of oneself and circumstances relevant to ones well-being.” In addition to the above properties, the particular form,
composition and colour of specific types provide insight into their
additional properties.
Amethyst
Manganese in clear quartz produces the beautiful shades of pinkish lavender to deep purple. The name comes from a Greek word which translates literally as "not drunken". Amethyst is said to help one both avoid and recover from addiction to intoxicants. "[Amethyst] facilitates transmutation of the lower energies into the higher frequencies. It is representative of the principle of complete metamorphosis."
Useful for meditation as it has a very calming effect, gives protection from negative psychic energy, induces flexibility in limited mental constructs, and activates the crown chakra.
Elestial amethysts are wonderful crystals that combine the properties of quartz elestials
(multi-pointed crystals with layering and/or etching of
at least one side), with amethyst.
Angelite
Discovered in Peru at the time of the harmonic convergence. This wonderful mineral helps balance the subtle bodies and strengthens them against intrusion, as its energy constitutes a protective barrier around the location in which it is placed. It is used to aid the development and accuracy of telepathic communication and is useful in channelling due to the properties of protection (channelling is not risk free), and the enhancement of all communication, both gross and subtle.

It can help one recognise the truth in all situations, encouraging accurate analysis, most profitably used in self analysis where it encourages truthfulness in examining deficiencies. The natural pyramids formed by this mineral are energizing and preserving. A wonderful gazing stone for "seeing". “Apophyllite facilitates attunement to ones body as well as to the higher dimensional life forms. It has been used to facilitate astral travel.”

Aragonite

encourage patience and "grounded-ness". Has been used to treat hair loss and
improve skin condition. Aventurine
The most common colour is green, an excellent heart chakra stone. “[Aventurine] is used primarily at the heart chakra to both activate and
clear. It is also an excellent protector of the heart chakra, providing a
shield to block entry from those who wish to “tap in” and use the energy of
another”.
Has been used in disorders
of the lungs, heart, adrenals and muscular system. Black Obsidian
Obsidian is a natural volcanic glass, appearing in a range of colours. It is one of the best grounding and base chakra stones. It encourages stability and shields from negative energies.

sheen obsidian is used for “gazing” and acts to provide information
concerning the “root” of the problem or situation. It is an excellent
vehicle for gazing, usually used by those advanced in the shamanic and

Black Tourmaline
A very purifying and protective stone on all levels. An excellent aura cleanser, as it both repels and transforms negative energies. It is so good at this, that it is said to repel radiation and appears to help if placed in front of computer monitors. As is common with black stones, it is an extremely effective base chakra cleanser and grounding stone.

a protective stone against "spells" which are cast by the negative

It also helps one to see, accept, and act on. It can help lift depression and reduce emotional tension. This stone is a specific for developing all
attributes associated with the 3rd eye, including all psychic pursuits. Blue Lace Agate
Blue lace agate is a gentle, calming stone that increases tranquillity. It calms anger, nervousness and harsh speech. This beautiful agate enhances the throat chakra. It can help strengthen intuition and inspiration. It is reputed to aid and strengthen connections with the Angelic realms. Blue lace agate is considered an important stone of communication. It can soften communication in difficult times, enhance public speaking and discussions. It also brings tactfulness to speech and written communications. Blue Tigers Eye (Falcons Eye, Hawks Eye)
Tigers eye in general is an unusual stone, both in terms of its beauty and properties. All colours are essentially protective and "earthing", but amplify the qualities of the chakra it is associated with by colour.
Blue tigers eye is the "highest", resonating
with the 3rd eye. It strengthens all visual endeavours, gross and subtle, as
well as the development of intuition and divination abilities. Calcite
Calcite takes on different colours when other minerals blend with it as it forms, making it extremely useful for placing on the respective chakras. When this is done it clears and activates not only the chakras on which it is placed but also does the same for the remaining chakras. Golden calcite (a unique Welsh variety is pictured above), is second to none when it comes to energizing the crown chakra. Chiastolite is a variety of andalusite, sharing those properties in addition to the ones below. Also known as the "cross stone" because of a natural cross pattern, produced by a darker axis and angles colouring. This is the key "signature" by which to understanding its valuable properties. The fact that this stone has had its uses so clearly indicated by those with even a preliminary knowledge of geometric and numeric qualities, is an indication of its importance.
Chiastolite is primarily a stone of balance, stability and harmony, as traditionally indicated by the cross. An excellent mineral for those wishing to assimilate mystical knowledge as it strengthens perception and a connection with ancient cultures.
It helps remove energy blockages and encourages the movement of chi and has thus been used in acupuncture and acupressure. A very useful stone for those practicing Tai Chi or "soft" martial arts for all of the above reasons. This beautiful, copper based crystal also possesses the protective qualities of pyrite.
