At one time this formation defined only those crystals that were marked with the indentations of now dissolved calcite. However now includes other types of growth interference, perhaps resulting from other quartz crystals or matrix. In either case, a crystal has been subjected to a drastic change of shape but still develops to completion. This is they key signature of these crystals and makes them useful in overcoming obstacles, both as a frequency and as a meditation.

Recognized by the presence of other minerals within the quartz structure. In Celtic quartz these are chlorite, pyrite, gold and undefined black inclusions - graphite and/or black tourmaline. However, all quartz can contain a variety of minerals, many of the most useful are described here.

The included minerals work in harmony with the qualities of quartz, providing the additional properties of the mineral. Amethyst

Undefined Black Inclusions (carbon, graphite and/or black tourmaline) 

Black inclusions enable the clear quartz to act as a powerful cleanser and activator of the base chakra, increasing physical vitality. Graphite, as an efficient electrical conductor, increases the flow of energy in healing and can be used to align the chakras.

Isis crystals are recognised by possessing a relatively symmetrical five sided face. Not as common as you might imagine.

These crystals enhance the feminine principle, helping restore the balance lost through a misuse of masculine energy, assertion, ego and power.   Teacher crystals, helping to promote an understanding of what we need in the human condition. The five sided face indicates these crystals are especially suited to working with people, as the number 5 has always indicated the human condition. The "phantom" is caused by a pause in the crystals growth, leaving a partial or complete "phantom" within the crystal after it continued to grow. This pause in growth can last for thousands of years. The phantom usually appears as a fine white veil, but sometimes as a coloured mineral.

Silver Phantom Very occasionally, the phantom (or part of it) becomes covered in tiny sparkling crystals.
