Real citrine is rare. The most reliable shades are the golden yellows because over 99% of the orangey-brown you see is cooked amethyst. Heat cheap, pale amethyst to 878 degrees and voila ... you get expensive "citrine". However, natural orangey citrine does exist and is called Madeira Citrine. The most saturated yellow, orange, and reddish tones of this extremely rare natural citrine command relatively high prices.
